Dr Nick Mills is the Head of Pollution & Flooding Resilience at Southern Water.

He and his team are designing, optimising and delivering pollution and flooding reduction programmes across the business, to protect customers and the environment, all within the constraints of the AMP7 TotEx envelope. They have already delivered significant cultural changes and are leading new approaches to pollution & flooding reduction.

Nick’s background is in engineering with a focus on sustainable energy and sludge innovation. He has been a driving force in developments in thermal hydrolysis and he has delivered a number of large scale demonstrations of new technology whilst he was Head of Innovation at Thames Water. He is a chartered engineer with the Institute of Engineering & Technology, has an EngD and was awarded an industrial fellowship from the Royal Commission of 1851 for his project.
