Alkali Solutions sells highly reactive lime solutions for pH correction in water and waste water treatment. Limesol and Puresol are manufactured using patented additives which minimise agglomeration, increasing the surface area and the reactivity of the calcium hydroxide solution. Limesol is a waste water product whilst Puresol is approved under Reg 31 for use in drinking water, both are 45% strength with anti-scaling properties. The high reactivity results in lower usage when compared with other lime slurries. Puresol can also replace caustic soda in many drinking water applications. Use of our products reduce the cost of pH correction in water and waste water treatment by up to 30%

Upon establishment in 2006, Orège has led the field in the research and development of innovative solutions for the municipal water, oil & gas and industrial sectors. Orège’s portfolio of patented solutions brings significant environmental and commercial benefits to customers more cost effectively than traditional alternatives. The SLG (Solid Liquid Gas) is compact add-on solution that can be added to existing water treatment equipment to improve the performance of their thickening and dewatering equipment. The SLG technology changes the sludge’s physical, chemical and rheological characteristics. The ‘SLG effect’ generates an emulsion that enables improved thickening or dewatering of raw sludge. This improvement is achieved in several stages including the collision and mixing of the gas (ambient air) and the solid/liquid (sludge) using a specific injection system, and sequences of compression/depression. The process results in two different effects: 1) macro, which consists in a significant increase in the porosity of the sludge and a replacement of part of the water with injected air; and 2) micro, which includes the destructuring of bacterial colonies and the reduction of their aggregate size, resulting in increased porosity. As a result, SLG technology can bring about a 3-5% increase in sludge dryness, leading to reduced sludge treatment and transportation costs.

Failures of sewer systems were once thought to be unavoidable and systems were operated on a reactive basis. Unfortunately this approach meant that pollution and flooding incidents were unavoidable. WRc's Sewer Operations team have been at the forefront to challenge this view in recent years. Our approach involves developing a detailed understanding of the mechanisms and causes of failures, and the mechanisms that lead to flooding and pollution impacts. This has included work on the management of sewer blockages, sewer infiltration, sewage pumping stations, street ironworks failures, and sewer inspection methods. To reduce blockages we have undertaken research into the effects of Fats Oils and Grease (FOG), food waste and so called flushable products and we continue to work on measures to limit their impact. WRc's treatment processes team is unique in the consultancy arena, providing cutting edge, tailored solutions to clients in various sectors and treatment scenarios. The team comprises highly experienced professionals from broad disciplines that cover all aspects of water and wastewater treatment. The vast multidisciplinary skill sets within the service area enable us to understand and to respond to an extensive range of unique client challenges. We make sure we formulate the best approach and deliver one-of-a-kind, innovative solutions whilst providing exceptional service.
