Bio:

Sophie is water security director for Europe at The Nature Conservancy, a global conservation NGO (www.nature.org). She is an economist with more than 20-year experience in the water sector. Prior to TNC, she was a consultant advising utilities, development banks, bilateral donors, philanthropic foundations or NGOs on the design of institutional and regulatory regimes, project preparation and evaluation and design of innovative financing approaches. Most recently she worked in the World Bank Global Water Practice, with a particular focus on extending access to sustainable water and sanitation services for the poor in Western and Northern Africa. At The Nature Conservancy, she works on mobilizing investments for source water protection activities in Europe and globally, where eco-systems and economies are at risk due to soil erosion, pollution and over-abstraction. She is a member of Veolia’s Critical Friends committee, advising Veolia’s CEO and senior management on sustainable development strategies and performance indicators. Sophie holds degrees from the University Paris-Sorbonne, Sciences-Po Paris and Columbia University in New York in history, geography, international affairs, finance and economic development.
