Job title: Assistant principal, climate adaptation policy
Olga Grant has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and PhD in Plant Biology (ecophysiology and ecological genetics), followed by 14 years of research in public and private research institutes and Universities, in Ireland, the UK, Spain, and Portugal, predominantly relating to the responses of plants (natural vegetation, crops, forest trees) to limited water availability, and the development of approaches to improve water use efficiency. She also gained experience in research management in other areas of science and engineering, before joining the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment, where she worked for two years in Sustainable Development, Environment Coordination & Governance. She moved to Climate Adaptation Policy in 2019, where she works to implement the National Adaptation Framework and mainstream climate change resilience across Government. This role has included coordination of the submission to Government and publication of 12 sectoral adaptation plans, such as the plans for adaptation in water quality and water services infrastructure.
